Community Involvement, Contributions & Scholarships
We at South Central Communications are committed to doing our part to better the communities in which we live and work. We encourage our employees to participate as community volunteers and dozens of them freely give of their time as firefighters, EMTs, coaches, and more. Every year, we also make financial and in-kind contributions to a wide variety of activities and causes within our service area.
Our company has partnered with schools, literacy programs, youth programs, senior citizen facilities, military organizations, and many others to help them reach their goals. In 2012 we launched a partnership with Amazon.com to raise funds for our community with our Community Rewards program. Below are some of the contributions we have made.If your group or organization (non-profit organizations only) would like to be considered for funding, please complete an application and mail it to us at

Relay For Life
Each year, more than 4 million people in over 20 countries take part in this global phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer.
The Board and management of South Central are strong advocates of physical and academic education. On a routine basis, SoCen makes contributions to sports programs at every high school in our service area, as well as Southern Utah University and Dixie State College. In the past, these funds have been used to purchase equipment, make improvements to physical facilities, and purchase supplies.
SoCen has also made substantial contributions to purchase books and other materials aimed at increasing the literacy of children and adults in the communities we serve. During the past year, SoCen provided matching funds to purchase materials for students with learning disabilities.
4-H and Agriculture Projects
Our service area is predominantly a rural, agricultural area. Fewer young people are choosing to stay involved in agriculture, which has a negative impact upon our service area. Knowing the vital role the agriculture plays in our society, South Central has made financial contributions to 4-H activities throughout our service area.
Huntsman World Senior Games
For two weeks every October, St. George becomes home to more than 6,000 senior athletes from across the United States and around the world. Men and women for 50-96 years old come together to compete in events such as golf, basketball, softball, and track & field events. South Central is proud to be a Blue Ribbon Sponsor of the games.
Western Legends Roundup
During the 50's and 60's the "cowboy western" reigned supreme in theaters and on television, and no location was more popular for filming than Kanab, Utah. Hundreds of movies and television episodes were filmed around its red rock cliffs and desert landscape. Every August Kanab hosts the Western Legends Roundup where thousands of visitors rub shoulders with actors and actresses who starred in those movies. South Central's in-kind donation of labor and equipment help make these tremendous community efforts become a reality.
Support For Military Families
The war on terrorism in Iraq has directly affected many residents in our service area. When The 222nd Army National Guard unit, based in Southern Utah, was called to active duty in Iraq, SoCen learned one of the greatest challenges facing the families of those military personnel was the inability to communicate with loved ones at home. To deal with that problem, SoCen provided free Internet service and long distance calling cards to families of active duty military personnel.
Other Worthwhile Projects
SoCen has given financial support to dozens of other organizations. Activities ranging from youth sporting leagues to community sponsored emergency medical programs have benefited from South Central's contributions.
South Central Communications places great emphasis on education. We recognize a good education is valuable to not only the individual, but to the communities in which we live. With that in mind, we devote a portion of our income to funding scholarships for deserving students. If you wish to be considered for one of our 2013 Scholarships, please fill out an application. They will be due no later than February 22, 2013.
